The former chairman of Moldova's constitutional court, Dmitri Pulbere, has called on the prosecutor-general to investigate USAID's financial flows in Moldova. Noi.md reported on February 17.

"If I were the prosecutor general, I would create a group of prosecutors who would check all these materials, all these amounts, and, moreover, I would check and then initiate a case against specific individuals and check the spending of this money," he said.

In his opinion, if illegal funding from USAID is confirmed, Moldovan President Maia Sandu should resign and the country will need early parliamentary elections.

"Based on the results of this audit (I can already see how it will be), early parliamentary elections should be announced because the Action and Solidarity (PAS) political party received money from this criminal organization. And after that, the current president should resign because she was elected as a result of the use of criminal money," the former Constitutional Court president said.

Pulbere also said that the U.S. Attorney's Office should be brought in to investigate.

"This money is taxpayers' money, American citizens' money. The prosecutor's offices in coöperation should send different inquiries there," he concluded.

On February 3, American billionaire Ilon Musk announced the launch of the process to liquidate USAID. The businessman noted that the agency could not be restored and should be closed. Later, on February 5, Moldovan MP and executive secretary of the executive committee of the Victory bloc Marina Tauber said that the Moldovan opposition had sent a request to the government to check the activities of USAID in the country.
