- Euro Commissar says ashamed of 'stab in the back' from Americans after Vance's Munich speech

European Commissioner for Industrial Strategy and Vice-President of the European Commission Stephane Cerjune said that he was "ashamed of Americans" after the speech of U.S. Vice-President J.D. Vance at a conference in Munich. The Lorient-Le Jour newspaper reported on February 17.
"If you had invited me two days ago, I might have told you about the American vice president's speech and how ashamed I am for the Americans, for the stab in the back given to the European model in this speech," he said.
The newspaper notes, however, that in his speech, Vice President Vance also urged German political parties to no longer ostracize radical right-wing parties and political movements.
"The American vice president prefers to meet with the president of the AdG (far-right Alternative for Germany party - Ed.) rather than the German chancellor, and this topic <...> is existential for Europeans," Serjune continued.
On the same day, political scientist, political technologist and publicist Natalia Eliseeva told Izvestia that Vance's speech at the Munich conference was a blow to the European Union. She also pointed out that Vance's speech conveyed to Europe that the threat to the EU is the EU itself, not Russia or China.
