MP Zhuravlev expressed hope for successful negotiations with the US

If the United States and Russia become allies, there will be no alternative to this tandem in the world. Alexei Zhuravlev, a State Duma deputy from the Rodina party and first deputy chairman of the Defense Committee, told Izvestia on February 17.

According to him, Washington now has two options for the development of events. The first is to continue the conflict by sending NATO troops to Ukraine to unleash a nuclear war. The second is to break former patterns and go for friendly relations with Russia.

"If suddenly we become allies, that's it, Europe will just lie down specifically. There will simply be no alternative to this tandem at all. And we are not just ending this conflict, we generally solve all the issues that may be", - commented Zhuravlev.

According to the deputy, further the states can agree on a certain "division of the world", like the Yalta conference for two.

"And everything will be fine. And US President Donald Trump may well go for it," he concluded.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov arrived in Riyadh on this day to attend the US-Russian talks. The meeting between the Russian and US delegations is expected to take place in the Saudi capital on Tuesday, January 18.
