Russia terminates agreement with Ukraine on security in the Sea of Azov and Kerch Strait

Russia has terminated the agreement with Ukraine that defined measures to ensure the safety of navigation in the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait. The corresponding decree was signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.

The document on the official portal of legal information states that the agreement is terminated in accordance with paragraph 1 of Article 37 of the Federal Law "On International Treaties of the Russian Federation".

"To terminate the agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine on measures to ensure the safety of navigation in the Sea of Azov and Kerch Strait, signed in Moscow on March 20, 2012", - noted in the text.

The Russian Foreign Ministry has been tasked with conveying the decision of the Russian government to the Ukrainian side.

Prior to that, on 5 February, the Russian Defense Ministry said that Russian air defenses destroyed five Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles over the Sea of Azov within an hour. The attacks using aircraft-type UAVs were repelled between 19:00 and 20:00 Moscow time.
