The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) has compiled an average portrait of a cyber fraud victim in 2024 based on the results of its annual survey. The results of the survey were published on the regulator's website on February 17.

It is indicated that every third of 10 survey participants faced cyber fraud last year, with 9% of victims losing their money.

"In 2024, the victims of fraudsters most often became working women with average income and secondary education, who live in the city and have permanent employment," - noted in the Bank of Russia.

According to the study, respondents most often encountered phone and SMS fraud - these two types together account for more than 45% of all cases.

"It should be noted that 84.4% of respondents when interacting with attackers did not succumb to their tricks and did not take any action," the regulator emphasized.

Earlier in the day, from the results of a survey of the social network "Odnoklassniki" and the service "Work.ru" it became known that 66% of Russians have faced attempts by fraudsters to steal their accounts on various sites on the Net. The majority of respondents (63%), being familiar with the rules of cybersecurity, were able to immediately recognize fraud and prevent the hacking of their accounts.
