Investigators will check the fact of violation of the rights of Russians living in Abkhazia. The corresponding instruction was given by the head of the Investigative Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin on February 17.

A number of local media reported that certain persons, acting on behalf of one of the presidential candidates of the republic, demanded that Russians support specific political forces in the elections. It is noted that people received threats.

The head of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation intends to monitor the progress of the audit personally.

Earlier, on February 16, the Central Election Commission (CEC) of the republic reported that the second vote in the presidential election in Abkhazia after the first round, tentatively, will be held on March 1. It is noted that the former vice-president of the republic Badra Gunba won 46.38% of the votes according to preliminary calculations of the results of the first round of elections, former Economy Minister Adgur Ardzinba - 36.92%.
