Chemist Francesco Rivella, who created the recipe for Nutella chocolate paste, died on Valentine's Day at the age of 97. This was reported on February 17 by the Daily Mail newspaper with reference to the family of the scientist.

In 1952, he joined the family confectionery company Ferrero. In order to find ingredients and ideas, the chemist traveled a lot. It is noted that he was Michel Ferrero's "right hand man".

The material indicates that Rivella, along with the Ferrero brothers, created that very unique flavor of chocolate paste. In addition to Nutella, Rivella contributed to the creation of other famous Ferrero products. These include Mon Cherì candy, TicTac dragee, and Kinder Cioccolato, Kinder Sorpresa and Ferrero Rocher.

He retired in 1993 after 40 years with the company and left behind a rich legacy in the world of sweets.

Rivella was buried in Piedmont in northwestern Italy, writes "Gazeta.Ru".
