For every third person who moved to Moscow (31%) the decisive factor in choosing the capital was not high earnings, but the rich cultural life of the capital. This is stated in the results of the research of the company Regions Development, which were read by "Izvestia" on February 18.

High wages and career prospects are important for 30% of respondents, and quality medical care and education for children - for 19%.

The desire to change the environment and start a new life in a big city also plays an important role (8%), even exceeding the factor of proximity to relatives (7%). This confirms the tendency to choose housing oriented to an active lifestyle and diverse leisure activities, experts noted.

Other factors related to infrastructure, Moscow residence registration, social programs, higher education and business start-up play a much smaller role (from 1% to 5%). The company believes that this may indicate high competition in these areas and difficulties in obtaining relevant benefits and opportunities.

The analysts also conducted a survey among potential regional buyers of apartments in Moscow to find out which characteristics of a residential complex are the most important for them. As a result, the key factors in choosing housing remain transportation accessibility and cost. Thus, 26% of respondents noted proximity to the subway and public transportation stops as the highest priority criterion. Affordable price and favorable terms of purchase (22%) rank second in importance. Proximity to cultural and entertainment facilities, such as theaters, museums, concert halls, cinemas, restaurants and clubs, takes the third place in the rating (18%).

"The results of the polls clearly demonstrate how the priorities of the new generation of regional residents considering moving to Moscow are changing. Whereas in the past the first place was exclusively occupied by work and material benefits, today we see a pronounced interest in the quality of life, rich leisure time and opportunities for self-development. Proximity to cultural and entertainment facilities is becoming one of the key factors in the choice of housing," - said the commercial director of Regions Development Lilia Artsibasheva.

Earlier, February 5, it was reported that every eighth Russian respondent (12%) plans to start saving and saving money for an apartment in 2025. Every tenth (10%) respondent plans to sell an apartment to buy another. This is stated in the results of a survey by Level Group.
