Netanyahu says committed to Trump's plan for 'another Gaza'

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday, February 17, that he supports US President Donald Trump's plan to create "another Gaza" after the resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
"The day after the war in Gaza, there will be no Hamas and no Palestinian Authority. I am committed to US President Trump's plan to create another Gaza," Netanyahu said, his words quoted by Ynet.
Earlier in the day, Sky News television reported that the radical Palestinian movement Hamas was ready to hand over its control of the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority and the government's Gaza Management Committee.
Trump said on Feb. 12 that the U.S. would not buy the enclave but would take possession of it anyway. The American president clarified on February 9 that his plan includes building permanent housing for Palestinian refugees and they will no longer return to Gaza. According to the head of state, it will be years before it will be possible to live in Gaza again.
Back in late January, Trump announced the possibility of resettling refugees from the Gaza Strip in Egypt and Jordan. The proposal involves the potential relocation of up to 1.5 million people, he specified. In this way, they would be guaranteed safety, he said. Later, on February 5, during a press conference, he announced Washington's plans to take control of Gaza.
Palestinian Ambassador to Russia Abdel Hafiz Nofal noted that the Palestinian side opposes the US president's proposal to relocate Palestinians from Gaza to Arab countries. Iran called Trump's proposal ethnic cleansing. Also, the US president's initiative was criticized by Qatar and Turkey.
