Dogs have bitten more than 5.4 thousand residents of St. Petersburg in 2024

In St. Petersburg in 2024, 5462 people went to medical institutions after dog attacks. Such figures were announced by the deputy of the Legislative Assembly Andrei Ryabokon in his Telegram.

At the same time, only 50 people applied to the police because of bites. Only four owners were brought to responsibility for dog attacks.

"These figures indicate the ineffectiveness of law enforcement of the current norm of the federal legislation, which generates an irresponsible attitude of animal owners to others", - summarized the Deputy.

According to the TV channel "78", administrative responsibility for the attack of dogs on people, causing harm to health or property, is in force since 2023.

At the end of November 2024, the State Duma adopted a law on responsibilityfor violation of the rules of walking animals. Violators will be punished with fines. For individuals, it will be from 1.5 thousand to 3 thousand rubles.
