A monument to sailors of all generations will be opened in Zadonsk (Lipetsk Region). It is dedicated to local residents who served in the Navy, the newspaper "Zadonskaya Pravda" reports in social networks.

The object will appear in the spring in the park of the village of Tyunino, writes GOROD48. Its opening is promised to coincide with the celebration of the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War.

The future monument - a ship's anchor Hall weighing 150 kg - has already been delivered to the city from Lisok. The construction was handed over by the administration of the Volga-Don basin of inland waterways on the initiative of local sailors.

According to the information of Zadonsk local historian and journalist Yuri Bukharov, in the early XX century the city had its own fleet. However, it consisted of one light steamship "Lida". The vessel daily traveled from the city to the wharf Patriarshaya, now the village of Donskoye.

In the Soviet time several "Zadonskos" were sailing along the rivers. Two motor ships and one powerful bulk carrier intended for the Black Sea Shipping Company.
