The Israeli Air Force struck one of the commanders of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the Saida area in southern Lebanon. This was reported by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Telegram channel on February 17.

"In a joint operation between the Israel Defense Forces and the General Security Service, IAF aircraft <...> attacked the Saida area and eliminated terrorist Muhammad Shaheen," the statement said.

According to the IDF, the slain man was the head of Hamas' operations branch in Lebanon and was involved in planning attacks on Jewish territory.

The Israeli army reported on Feb. 15 a strike on the commander of an air unit of the Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah. The attack was in response to his involvement in drone launches toward Israeli territory.
