The time of expected dramatic changes in the direction of warming in Moscow has been named

Nights in Moscow and the Moscow region will be quite cold this week, although there will be a tendency to reduce the frosty situation, a leading specialist of the information agency Meteonovosti Tatyana Pozdnyakova told Izvestia on February 17. According to her, more dramatic changes toward warming are expected in the capital region after February 23.

"In the first half of the week, the capital region will remain in the rear, cold part of the high-altitude, powerful cyclone, which is now centered over the Polar Urals. Therefore, our nights will remain quite cold, although in principle the tendency to reduce the frosty situation we will have," - said the forecaster.

According to her information, on the night of Tuesday, February 18, the minimum temperature in Moscow will be -11...-13, in the region up to -15. The daytime temperature will be -5...-7, up to -9 in the region. At the same time, the westerly wind, which currently prevails, will change to southwesterly. At times, the weather will remain cloudy, and on Tuesday and Wednesday a small snowfall is predicted at times.

The night on Wednesday, February 19, in the capital will be slightly less frosty, -10 ... -12 in the city, in the region to -14 degrees. Daytime temperatures are expected to be in the range of -5...-7 in Moscow, and up to -8 in the region.

"The wind will begin to weaken, we will gradually be under the influence of the anticyclone. In the second half of the week, the weather will be fully determined by the anticyclone over Belarus, the atmospheric pressure will increase significantly, the weather will be cloudy with clearings," added Pozdnyakova.

The weekend, February 22 and 23, is predicted to be cloudy and without precipitation. The minimum temperature will gradually increase. At the end of the week, the minimum temperature in the region is predicted -8...-13 degrees, in Moscow: -8...-10.

"The daytime temperature will rise to -2...-7 degrees by Saturday. If on Monday the air temperature will be below the climatic norm by about five degrees, then the negative anomaly will decrease, but it will remain negative, that is, the air temperature at the end of the week will be below the climatic norm by about two or three degrees. More dramatic changes in the direction of warming are expected in the capital region after February 23," - said the forecaster.

Earlier, February 14, it was reported that meteorologists predict an unusually warm spring in 2025. The strongest deviation from the usual weather will be noticeable in the capital, St. Petersburg, Volgograd, Kazan, Nizhny Novgorod, Voronezh and Samara, and the flowering of plants and seasonal allergies will begin earlier than usual.
