Russia's economy is open to multilateral cooperation and is not afraid of competition. This was stated by Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov on February 17.

"We remain an open economy. And to increase trade and investment we will continue to expand the network of our free trade agreements, we are not afraid of competition," Reshetnikov said at the board of the ministry.

He pointed out that over the past year Russia has significantly increased interaction with African countries. Also within the framework of Russia's presidency in BRICS it was possible to promote issues of interaction on trade, tourism, as well as the climate agenda and technologies. Reshetnikov emphasized that at the moment the association is one of the most promising global markets.

According to Reshetnikov, strengthening interaction with the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) is a factor in the sustainability of the Russian economy, as well as provides a unified "economic environment" for exports and investments.

On February 12, the Institute of National Economic Forecasting of the Russian Academy of Sciences told Izvestia that the final growth figure of the EAEU economies is influenced by the assessment of the growth potential caused by the geopolitical situation, as well as by the accelerated growth of the Russian economy. In addition, economic interrelations between Russia and Belarus have sharply intensified, including within the framework of military-technical and industrial cooperation.
