The doctor named ways to support the body during changes in atmospheric pressure

Everyone reacts differently to fluctuations in atmospheric pressure: most people hardly notice them, but some people feel bad because of climatic changes. On February 18, neurologist Ekaterina Demyanovskaya told Izvestia about how to maintain good health during such days.
Atmospheric pressure reflects with what force the air presses on surrounding objects and people. Normal or average is considered to be at the level of 760 mm Hg. When it gets warmer outside, the atmospheric pressure drops. And, conversely, the indicator rises when the weather turns bad, said the neurologist.
The expert explained that there is no one universal remedy to help cope with sudden weather changes.
"It is important to get enough sleep, watch your diet, go for a walk if possible and in principle move more often. Hypertensive people should limit their fluid intake and refrain from salty foods. Some people can cope with malaise help contrast shower and warm foot baths", - said Demyanovskaya.
Regular hardening, climatotherapy and balneotherapy are recommended for meteosensitive people, she noted.
"If the air temperature changes gradually, the body has time to adapt to the changes. But, if the temperature and atmospheric pressure change too sharply, the internal organs and systems do not have time to adjust and adequately respond to it. <...> In people with weakened health, sudden changes in atmospheric pressure can cause exacerbation of chronic diseases, "- explains the expert.
According to her, people suffering from headaches and migraines are especially sensitive to sharp fluctuations in atmospheric pressure. According to the expert, with the cavities of the nose and inner ear are connected sinuses in the skull, covered with mucous membrane. The difference in pressure inside them and in the atmosphere can cause headaches.
"It is more often felt in the frontal region. As patients say, it hurts somewhere in the center of the head. There may also be nausea, intolerance to light," Demyanovskaya said.
In addition, she added, pressure spikes can cause an exacerbation of arthritis - inflammatory diseases of the joints of various origins.
"Some people's legs and arms literally break and dislocate when the weather changes. Under the influence of atmospheric pressure, the process can be aggravated, the tissues around the joints can swell, which affects their mobility and provokes pain," said the doctor.
Small fluctuations in pressure are also felt by patients with diabetes. They also affect those suffering from hypertension and diseases associated with atherosclerosis, the expert added.
Earlier, on February 14, cardiologist "SM-Clinica" Anastasia Fomicheva told "Izvestia" about the most common mistakes made by patients with hypertension. According to her, the main among them is failure to follow the recommendations of doctors. In particular, patients often neglect the rules of the DASH-diet, designed specifically to control pressure, and abuse salty foods. The expert noted that patients sometimes reduce dosages of medications on their own, which is not recommended.
