Yandex neural networks have digitized more than 30 thousand issues of Izvestia newspaper. Users have access to full-text search by issues of the newspaper starting from the first issue of 1917 in the service "Search by archives", it was reported on February 18.

Now it is possible to see the newspaper's unique archive on the Web and find historical information in it as quickly as by request on the Internet. The joint project of Izvestia, the National Electronic Library and Yandex is timed to coincide with the upcoming 108th anniversary of the publication.

The digital archive was launched together with Izvestia's special project "80 Days to Victory" dedicated to the anniversary of the Great Victory. Every day the IZ.RU website and the newspaper pages will publish materials based on archival publications of Izvestia in 1945. They covered the key events of the war years. With the help of "Archive Search" each user will be able to find and read the historical issue of that epoch.

Digitized issues of Izvestia since 1917 can be viewed in the "Search the archives".

Earlier, on December 19, 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that paper books and mass media will retain their place in the changing world if they contain worthy content. He cited as an example, among others, issues of the Izvestia newspaper.
