In Russia, 15 thousand packages of banned veterinary drugs have been detected

Rosselkhoznadzor has identified 15,000 packages of veterinary drugs banned for circulation in Russia using the "Honest Mark" labeling system. This was told to "Izvestia" on February 17 in the press service of the Center for Development of Advanced Technologies (CDAT).
The press service explained that these veterinary drugs are foreign, which do not have an opinion on the compliance of the production site with the rules of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and came from the territory of the union state. The realization of such products is prohibited by Federal Law No. 61-FZ "On Circulation of Medicines".
"Labeling has proved to be an effective tool in the fight against illegal products. Thanks to the data from the labeling system, we were able to promptly identify drugs prohibited for circulation in our country and timely prevent their entry into civil circulation," the press service of the CRPT quoted Anna Babushkina, deputy head of the State Veterinary Inspection Department of Rosselkhoznadzor, as saying.
Mandatory labeling of veterinary drugs started on September 1, 2024. At the moment, 5067 market participants are registered in the "Honest Mark" system, including 81 manufacturers, 91 importers, 934 wholesale organizations and 4535 retail representatives. Almost 33.5 million units of labeled goods have been put into circulation.
Egor Zhavoronkov, head of the department for work with socially important goods of the CRPT, noted that thanks to labeling the number of legal manufacturers and importers is growing.
"Since the signing of the government decree on mandatory labeling of veterinary drugs, the number of known importers of veterinary drugs has increased 2.3 times. If before the start of labeling 39 companies were known about, at the moment 91 organizations involved in the import of foreign animal drugs are registered in the system. In general, new importers brought into the country 23% of the total volume of imported veterinary drugs, which also indicates a significant whitening of the market," he summarized.
Earlier, on February 5, the press service of the CRPT informed "Izvestia" about 540 new drugs. It was specified that the new international nonproprietary names (INN) belong to various pharmacological groups. They include sex hormones and modulators of genital function (20% of the total volume of new INNs), vitamins (17%), cough and cold medicines (10%), myorelaxants (10%), as well as drugs for the treatment of diseases associated with acidity disorders (8%).
