- The amount of fines for traffic violations in the Russian Federation amounted to 176.3 billion rubles for the year

The total amount of fines for traffic violations in 2024 amounted to 176.3 billion rubles. A total of 255 million rulings were issued, 93% of which were issued automatically by photo-video fixation systems, Kommersant reported on February 17, citing data from the State Automobile Inspectorate.
Moscow (42.9 million), Moscow Region (41.6 million) and the Republic of Tatarstan (9.3 million) were the leaders in the number of fines issued, followed by St. Petersburg and the Republic of Bashkortostan. The rating of regions by the total amount of fines was headed by Moscow (33.3 billion rubles), Moscow region (25.3 billion rubles) and Novosibirsk region (8.9 billion rubles), the top five were completed by St. Petersburg and the Republic of Tatarstan.
It is noted that the growth in the number of fines occurred against the background of the increase in the country's car fleet. Over the year it grew by 1.8 million units, reaching 67.75 million cars (52.9 million - cars).
At the same time, the annual growth in the number of decrees slowed down. In 2024, it amounted to 6.2%, while in previous years this figure reached 11-17%. The reason for the slowdown is called the reform of systems of photo-video fixation of violations, carried out in the fall of 2024.
February 14, it was reported that fines for traffic violations account for almost a fifth of all debts of Russians. Thus, by the volume of enforcement proceedings under enforcement, as of January 1, 2025, fines from the traffic police are in second place with a share of 18.1% (10 million enforcement proceedings).
