Russia's first cluster of vertical transport and elevator construction will appear on the basis of the capital's Karacharovsky Mechanical Plant (KMZ). The site will be included in the special economic zone "Technopolis Moscow", and the volume of production will increase, said the mayor of the city Sergey Sobyanin in his official Telegram-channel.

KMZ is one of the leading elevator manufacturing enterprises in the country. This year it celebrates its 75th anniversary. Over the years, the plant has made more than 285 thousand elevators. It also produced building steel structures and cranes.

KMZ equipment is installed at many iconic sites in Moscow, including the Cathedral of Christ the Savior, the Patriarch and St. Andrew's bridges.

The company's specialists also manufactured elevators for servicing the first Soviet orbital spacecraft Buran.
