The weather forecaster reported about the renewal of the temperature minimum of the year in Moscow

The temperature minimum of the year has been updated in Moscow. This was reported on February 17 by leading expert of the weather center "Phobos" Mikhail Leus in Telegram-channel.

"For the third day in a row, nature updates in Moscow the temperature minimum of the year - last night the thermometer columns at the base meteorological station of the metropolis, VDNKh, dropped to -12.7 - this is the lowest air temperature since the beginning of this year", - stated in the message.

The expert also noted that at other meteorological stations of the city the minimum air temperature ranged from -11.5 degrees in Balchug to -16.3 degrees in Butovo. In the Moscow region, the coldest was in Klin, there recorded up to 17.5 degrees of frost.

"Until the end of the working week the temperature background will remain 2-5 degrees below the climatic norm," - stated in the message.

According to Leus, the February cold snap has reached its maximum, and from Tuesday the temperature will go up. And next week the thaw will return to Muscovites.

Scientific Director of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand reported on February 17 that heavy precipitation, increased wind and ice are predicted in the regions of the Southern, Volga, North Caucasus and Far Eastern Federal Districts at the beginning of the week. According to him, in the Southern Federal District, heavy precipitation in the form of rain and wet snow, wind strengthening up to 27 m/s and icy conditions are expected. In the North Caucasus Federal District, rain, wet snow, sleet, snow, as well as a build-up of wet snow, icy conditions and wind strengthening up to 20 m/s are forecast. In Privolzhsky - bad weather is expected in the south. And in Primorsky Krai the wind may increase to 20-25 m/s.
