The Palestinian radical movement Hamas is ready to hand over control over the Gaza Strip to the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO). This was reported by Sky News television channel on February 17.

"Hamas expressed in a letter to the PLO its readiness to transfer the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority and the Government Committee for the management of Gaza," - stated in the material of the TV channel.

It is specified that in this decision Hamas representatives were helped by specialists from Egypt, who held a conversation with them.

January 19 between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas entered into force the first phase of the ceasefire. On February 10, the Palestinian radical movement Hamas decided to postpone the release of Israeli hostages scheduled for February 15 because of Israel's failure to comply with the terms of the ceasefire agreement.

The situation in the Middle East escalated on the morning of October 7, 2023, when the Palestinian radical movement Hamas subjected Israeli territory to a massive rocket attack from the Gaza Strip. On the same day, Israel began retaliatory strikes.
