Rogov says EU lunacy over plans to send troops to Ukraine

The European Union's (EU) plans to send armed forces to Ukraine are lunacy. This was reported on February 17 by the chairman of the commission of the Public Chamber of the Russian Federation on sovereignty issues, co-chairman of the coordination council for the integration of new regions Vladimir Rogov.
"The lunacy of the leaders of European countries represented by France and Britain, who continue the policy of Russophobia and hatred," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
In addition, he added that the deployment of European troops in Ukraine would provoke European states to be drawn into a direct conflict with Russia. The co-chairman specified that the EU's desire to introduce its armed forces on Ukrainian territories is an attempt to "get its piece of the pie" in the form of minerals.
On the same day, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that the UK was ready to deploy its armed forces in Ukraine if it would guarantee security for the country. The Associated Press reported on February 15 that a group of political elites from the UK, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (his term of office expires in May 2024) discussed the possible dispatch of troops to Ukrainian territory.
