- A memorial was erected in Avdiivka to mark the anniversary of the city's liberation from the AFU

In the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR), on the anniversary of the liberation of Avdeevka from the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), a memorial in memory of Russian army servicemen has been erected at the entrance to the city. Images from the scene are at the disposal of "Izvestia".
It is noted that the memorial plates list all the units that took part in the storming and liberation of the city.
In Avdeevka, which was liberated from the Ukrainian militants last summer, the reconstruction of damaged houses began. Also in the city all yards were demined and the scale of destruction was assessed. After Russian regions, which took patronage over the city, began to restore the houses.
"We are in the yard of one such house, which was rebuilt by the Chelyabinsk region. In the coming days, the residents of the city will already receive the keys to the apartments and will be able to move in there. Restoration of other houses is also going on, this is not the only house. As the contractors told us, at the moment about 10 houses are being restored in Avdiivka. In the near future all of them will be handed over to people who will be able to move from the basements into warm heated houses with water," said Izvestia correspondent Yevgeny Bykovsky.
On February 17, 2024, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the Russian army had taken control of Avdeevka. He emphasized that the liberation of the city allowed to significantly secure Donetsk from the strikes of the Kiev regime, because the front line had moved away from the city. Since 2014, the AFU had been regularly shelling residential neighborhoods of Donetsk precisely from Avdiyivka.
