Pushkov said there is a lack of unity in the European Union

The European Union (EU) lacks the unity that Brussels officials talk about. Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov wrote about this in his Telegram channel.
"Already now, Europe lacks the 'solid unity' that faceless Brussels officials are talking about. It is not yet noticeable, but two-thirds of Europe is eloquently silent, not at all wanting to quarrel with Donald Trump and the United States," the report said.
According to him, only the aggressive core of the EU, which includes Keir Starmer, Emmanuel Macron, Friedrich Merz, Ursula von der Leyen, is preparing a response to Trump.
The senator also noted that eight years ago, the incapacity of Europe's liberal elites was not so obvious. Now the EU will not be able to draw conclusions either from the speech of U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance at the Munich Security Conference or from Trump's decision to leave the Europeans out of negotiations with Russia.
"The outcome of the Ukrainian crisis will largely determine the power and fate of the political forces currently ruling Europe. The fall of [Ukrainian President] Volodymyr Zelensky (his term expired on May 20, 2024 - Ed.) may entail their own fall and a change in Europe's political orientation," the senator concluded.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the Munich conference on 15 February urged the EU countries to put forward concrete proposals on Ukraine instead of complaining.
