Scholz opposed the demilitarization of Ukraine

Europe will not allow anyone to agree on the demilitarization of Ukraine. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on February 16.
"We will not allow anyone to agree, for example, on the demilitarization of Ukraine," he said during the debate of candidates for chancellor of Germany.
Scholz also pointed to the need to involve the European Union in negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict.
In his opinion, Russian-American discussions are impossible without the FRG. He noted that Europe has provided more assistance to Ukraine than the US.
"Germany has allocated €44 billion, including spending on Ukrainian refugees. €28 billion is military aid, already transferred or promised. We will continue to support Ukraine comprehensively. That is why we have the right to vote," Scholz said.
On February 15, the US president's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, said that Europe might not be physically present at the negotiating table on the Ukrainian conflict, but its interests would be taken into account. He also noted Washington's reluctance to engage in discussions with a large number of participants.
