Two tanker sailors disappeared in Kamchatka


Two sailors of the tanker, which arrived at the village of Korf to unload fuel and lubricants, have disappeared. This was reported on February 17 by Minister of Emergency Situations of Kamchatka Territory Sergei Lebedev.
He specified that two crew members disappeared after they tried to swim to the tanker on a boat from the shore. According to him, the boat began to be carried away by the current. When a tugboat approached it, no people were found in the boat.
Lebedev added, at the time of arrival of rescuers the boat was started, inside lay life jackets.
"Search activities have been suspended due to weather conditions. Blizzard, no visibility at all", - stated in the message of the Minister in the social network "VKontakte".
Lebedev specified that 14 specialists and seven units of equipment were involved in the search.
On October 15, 2024 in the waters of the Sea of Okhotsk in Kamchatka fishermen found the boat, which disappeared on August 9. It was carrying the only survivor, Mikhail Pichugin, and the bodies of two of his relatives - his brother and nephew. Pichugin was discharged from the hospital on October 29.
