Two earthquakes of magnitude 4.7 and 5.3 struck western Iran


Two earthquakes with magnitudes of 4.7 and 5.3 have occurred in the west of Iran's Khuzestan province. This was reported by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center(EMSC) on February 16.
It is specified that the first earthquake with magnitude 4.7 was recorded at 18:48 UTC (21:48 Moscow time). It occurred at a distance of 73 km from the city of Khorrembad, the population of which is 329 thousand people. Its focus was at a depth of 10 km.
Later in the seismological center reported about the second recorded tremor of magnitude 5.3, which occurred in almost the same place.
There was no information about casualties and destruction.
On Friday, February 14, it was reported that the earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 occurred in Ethiopia. It is noted that the seismic event was recorded at 20:28 UTC (23:28 Moscow time) in 86 km northeast of the city of Nazret
