The administration of US President Donald Trump is seeking to achieve a ceasefire in Ukraine by April 20. This was written by Bloomberg agency on February 16, citing sources in the government.

"The Trump administration told European officials that it wants to secure a ceasefire in Ukraine by Easter," the material said.

Some officials also emphasized that the topics of the talks to be launched in Saudi Arabia between the Russian and American sides are ambitious but potentially unrealistic, Gazeta.Ru added.

U.S. Presidential Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Whitkoff said on February 16 that an American delegation was traveling to Saudi Arabia for talks with the Russian side, with hopes for good progress. Asked whether the US expects "territorial concessions" from Ukraine, Whitkoff said that first it would be about "building trust" with Russia.

U.S. presidential special envoy for Ukraine Keith Kellogg said on February 15 that Europe might not be physically present at the peace talks table, but its interests would be taken into account. He noted that Washington was not yet ready to name the requirements for providing security guarantees to Kiev as part of the negotiations.
