- Media learned of Western complaints about the embezzlement of NATO weapons by the Ukrainian military

Western countries have accused Kiev of "squandering the weapons" provided to it by the North Atlantic Alliance because of the wrong method of fighting. The Telegraph publication The Telegraph wrote on February 16.
"NATO has a disagreement with Ukraine over battlefield tactics, and sources in the British defense establishment accuse the army of [Ukrainian President] Volodymyr Zelensky (term of office ended May 20, 2024. - Ed.) of wasting expensive weapons and equipment," the piece said.
According to the publication, Ukrainian commanders are using Western weapons combined with Soviet tactics of warfare, which has led to "the loss of a significant amount of NATO weaponry."
The authors explain that Russian tactics allegedly prioritize massive low-cost firepower over "NATO-style precision attacks." The newspaper cites the UK's donation of anti-tank missiles called NLAW. Each of them costs £20,000. The kingdom has supplied Ukraine with more than 5,000 of these weapons. The footage received from the Ukrainians of them using these weapons showed that Ukrainian troops were "firing indiscriminately".
According to the publication's anonymous sources, the Ukrainians never had enough time to learn advanced NATO tactics. "Not only was time short, but Ukrainian troops were allegedly often reluctant to adopt NATO doctrine, claiming it was unsuitable for conditions on the ground that Western instructors had not encountered," the text stated.
Also, anonymous sources say that Ukrainian troops have repeatedly left Javelin launchers on the battlefield, which can be reused. The UK has transferred to Ukraine hundreds of high-precision missiles Brimstone. According to the publication, Ukrainian troops often missed their targets using these missiles because they used "old Soviet-era mapping systems."
Separately, the publication describes cases of Ukrainian corruption, when trucks with equipment occasionally "suddenly disappeared."
Ukrainian Deputy Defense Minister Ivan Havrylyuk said on 7 February that about 70 percent of weapons in Ukraine represent military aid from Kiev's Western allies. However, according to Havrylyuk, the Ukrainian army's real need for supplies on the front line has never been provided by the West.
