Capybara and gorilla cubs born in Moscow Zoo


The Moscow Zoo has new inhabitants - capybara and plains gorilla cubs were born. This is reported on February 16 on the official portal of the mayor and government of the capital.
It is reported that the female plains gorilla named Kira gave birth to a baby boy in early February. For all time in the zoo, Kira has given birth to four cubs.
The second new member of the zoo gave birth to a female capybara Malaya. This is her ninth cub, and his sex will be known later. It is noted that for the first time the process of birth of a capybara cub could be seen by visitors, as everything happened in the exposition enclosure.
Earlier, on February 12, the mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin said that the Moscow Zoo took the first place in the world in terms of species diversity. He specified that the zoo has more than 1.2 thousand species, including the rarest animals, which are almost not left in nature. For example, Amur leopards or Sumatran orangutans.
On January 17, guests of the Moscow Zoo were able to see for the first time a baby brown hyena, born in the summer of 2024.
