The restoration of the Chemistry pavilion at VDNKh is being completed in Moscow, Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said.

In particular, three unique glass stained glass windows, which were completely lost, were restored in the course of works based on archive photos and documentary film footage, the mayor wrote in his Telegram channel.

"The central stained glass window depicts the brave partisan Marite (Maria) Melnikayte," Sobyanin specified. - On the right is army general Ivan Chernyakhovsky. In the Great Patriotic War the troops under his command participated in the Battle of Kursk, Kiev, Belorussian, Vilnius and other operations".

On the left side of the stained glass window is decorated with the image of Vincas Mickevičius-Kapsukas - publicist, literary critic and political figure.

Sobyanin also recalled that earlier in the process of restoration recreated the monument "Collective Farm Worker and Collective Farm Girl with the coat of arms of the Lithuanian SSR". This composition decorated the building of the pavilion from 1954 to 1964.

According to the mayor, upon completion of works in pavilion 6 at VDNKh a trade and exhibition center of the Republic of Abkhazia will be opened. It "will house expositions devoted to the history, culture and achievements of the country, as well as a cafe of national cuisine," Sobyanin added.

Earlier in February, Sobyanin announced the restoration of Pavilion No. 35 "Glavtabak" - an object of cultural heritage of federal significance. In the course of works the preserved tiles are dismantled, cleaned, tinted and returned to their place, the mayor said. In turn, the lost tiles are made anew from similar materials - one such piece is created for more than two weeks. In addition, specialists recreate the chandelier that decorated the central hall of the pavilion. It is being made according to the surviving sketches and historical photographs found in Moscow archives.
