- Crimea told about the attempt of NATO forces to enter Ukraine under the guise of peacekeepers

NATO forces are trying to enter the territory of Ukraine under the guise of a peacekeeping mission. This was stated by the head of the Crimean interethnic mission Zaur Smirnov on February 16.
"Troops of NATO countries are trying to enter the territory of Ukraine under the guise of an alleged peacekeeping mission," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.
According to Smirnov, the US is openly ignoring the interests of the European anti-Russian coalition, so EU countries, primarily France and Britain, will be ready to accept any help to maintain their involvement in the Ukrainian issue.
He also said that NATO troops should not be in Ukraine no matter what formal cover they would use.
Earlier, on February 15, the Associated Press reported that a group of political elites from Britain, Denmark, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Poland, as well as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (his term expired on May 20, 2024) discussed the possible sending of troops to Ukraine. It was clarified that, first of all, the composition and role of the forces that might be sent depends on whether Moscow and Kiev can agree on terms as the negotiations progress.
On the same day, Russian Senator Alexei Pushkov called the idea of European countries sending peacekeepers from NATO member states to Ukraine unsuccessful. According to him, this should be agreed to by the Russian Federation first of all.
