Death toll rises to 18 in India's stampede


At least 18 people, including 11 women and five children, were killed in a stampede at a train station in New Delhi, India. This was reported by NDTV television channel on February 16.

According to NDTV, citing a statement from the country's railway ministry, there were a large number of people on railway platform 14 when the Prayagraj Express train was waiting to depart. Meanwhile, two other trains - Swantrata Senani Express and Bhubaneshwar Rajdhani Express - were also delayed, with passengers also on platforms 12, 13 and 14.
It is reported that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that he was "saddened" by the crush, and also expressed condolences to the relatives of the victims, wished recovery to the injured.
On the eve it became known that as a result of the crush at the railway station in New Delhi killed at least 15 people, including three children, 10 women and two men. It was specified that the crush occurred due to the influx of passengers after the delay of two trains.
