The Ministry of Internal Affairs clarified the conditions for issuance of two passports

Citizens of the Russian Federation can officially have two passports, provided that one of them is biometric. This was announced on February 16 by the main department for migration issues of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"It is officially possible to have two passports, but the second must necessarily be of a new sample," the department said in a message in its Telegram channel.

The department noted that in biometric passports fingerprints and photo are stored in a chip sewn into one of the pages of the document.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs recalled that scanning of the fingers of hands for registration of a passport of a new sample is provided for from 12 years of age.

On February 14, the Ministry of Internal Affairs told Russians about a new scheme of fraudsters, in which they present themselves as employees of the polyclinic and technical support of "Gosuslugi". Fraudsters lure a code from SMS to enter a personal account under the pretext of making an appointment, then send applications for loans. After that, they send the victim the number of the fake "Gosuslugi" support service, where they ask to attach photos of the bank card to the application.
