Also, Brazilian Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira shared on social network X (formerly Twitter) the topics the upcoming summit will focus on. It will discuss strengthening trade and economic ties between BRICS countries, developing alternative payment systems to boost trade without dependence on the US dollar and reforming multilateral institutions to ensure fairer global governance.

"We will take very important decisions for the development of all these countries, for cooperation, for improving the living conditions of all their people," Vieira said.

BRICS is an interstate association of countries. On the eve of the summit in Kazan, held from October 22 to 24, 2024, 35 applications were received to join the association.
