Hungary has blocked Ukraine 's possible accession to the European Union (EU). This was reported by Polish radio station RMF24 on February 15.

"Hungary has imposed additional conditions on Ukraine's accession <...> this case may delay or even prevent the opening of the first negotiations in April," the publication said in a piece.

It is specified that Budapest did not approve the Polish draft with conditions in order to start negotiations on Kiev's membership in the EU, which included two demands for reforms in Ukraine concerning the rule of law and public administration in the country.

According to the radio station, the draft cannot be sent to Ukraine until there is a unanimous decision by all members.

Earlier, on January 21, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine was not yet ready to join the EU, and he was not ready for its accession. According to him, the EU does not have the money to accept Kiev. In addition, he urged Ukraine to first settle relations with Slovakia and Hungary. A day earlier, Polish presidential candidate Karol Nawrocki said that Ukraine's accelerated accession to the EU threatens Poland's economy.
