Voter turnout at the presidential election in Abkhazia amounted to 65%


The Central Election Commission of Abkhazia announced that by 19:30 Moscow time the turnout at the presidential election amounted to 65%, half an hour later all polling stations closed. This was announced by the head of the commission Dmitry Marshan at a briefing at the international press center on February 15.
"We can congratulate each other on the fact that the elections across the country were held. At 20:00 Moscow time, all polling stations closed. According to data as of 19:30 Moscow time, about 95,000 people, or 65% of the electorate, have voted across the country," the CEC chairman said.
He specified that 134.5 thousand citizens were included in the voter lists.
On February 15, polling stations for the presidential election opened in Abkhazia. The candidates are former Vice-President of the republic Badra Gunba, former Minister of Economy Adgur Ardzinba, former trade representative of Abkhazia in Russia Oleg Bartsits, former chairman of the control chamber of the republic Robert Arshba and chairman of the board of the Black Sea Development Bank Adgur Hurkhumal.
The head of Abkhazia's Central Election Commission, Dmitry Marshan, recognized the presidential election as valid.
