The need for the participation of European countries in the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine is doubtful. This statement was made by the Russian permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, on 15 February.

According to him, Kiev's European allies discussed various "peace formulas" without the participation of the Russian side. He called it a "shoddy and pointless show."

"Now they want to be invited to participate in real negotiations. What for? They have already discredited themselves," Ulyanov wrote on the social network X (former Twitter).

The US president's special envoy for Ukraine, Keith Kellogg, said on February 15 that Europe might not be physically present at the peace talks table, but its interests would be taken into account. He also noted Washington's reluctance to enter into discussions with a large number of participants.
