G7 countries adopt communiqué on new sanctions against Russia

The foreign ministries of the Group of Seven (G7) member states have adopted a communiqué on the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions. This is evidenced by the statement of the foreign ministers following the talks at the Munich Security Conference on February 15.
In the statement, the foreign ministers emphasized that Russia's "good-faith efforts" to end the conflict should guarantee Ukraine's long-term security and stability as an independent state, Reuters reports the content of the document.
In addition, the G7 members reaffirmed their support for Kiev in defense of "freedom, sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity."
European Union (EU) diplomatic chief Kaja Kallas on January 27 officially confirmed the agreement to extend sanctions against Russia for six months. The restrictions will come into force on February 22. In turn, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on February 12 that the EU was preparing new restrictions amid the difficult situation of its own economy.
