- A bill on protection against telephone and Internet fraudsters has been introduced in the State Duma

The Russian government has submitted to the State Duma a bill to protect Russians from telephone and Internet fraudsters. The corresponding document was published on February 15 on the website of the legislative activity support system.
The project provides for the introduction of mandatory labeling of calls so that people know who is trying to contact them. At the same time, a call without labeling is highly likely to be evidence of fraud. Also, Russians will be able to refuse advertising calls and spam mailings and prohibit incoming international calls.
In addition, the law implies a ban on the ability of government agencies and banking organizations to contact Russians via foreign messengers.
Among the protection measures are also listed quick change of profile password on the portal "Gosuservices", removal of inactive numbers from its database, ban on registration of SIM-cards in one's name without personal presence and prohibition to transfer them to other persons.
There is also a database of malicious voices, which will work on the basis of the state information system "Antifrod". Thus, people will be able to promptly track fraudsters and suppress cases of crime.
In total, the bill includes 30 protection measures that will contribute to the security of the country's citizens.
On February 13, Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin announced the introduction of mandatory call identification by the Russian government as part of amendments to the legislation to protect citizens from telephone and Internet fraudsters. At the same time, he announced the preparation of a package of amendments to the legislation to ban banks, cellular operators and government agencies from using foreign messengers when communicating with people.
