Four members of the European Parliament (EP) representing Finland have called for the establishment of relations between the regional commonwealth and Russia. This was reported on February 14 by Yle broadcaster with reference to the data of a survey conducted among lawmakers.

"Some Finnish EP lawmakers would like the EU to start a dialog with Russian President Vladimir Putin. <...> MEPs Merja Küllönen and Jussi Saramo from the Union of Left Forces, Eero Heinäluoma from the Social Democratic Party of Finland, and Sirpa Pietikäinen from the Coalition Party hold this opinion," the text reads.

The poll was conducted from February 6 to 11, Gazeta.Ru added .

Professor of Helsinki University Tuomas Malinen said on February 11 that it is necessary to remove NATO military bases from the Russian border, and it is necessary to start with such facilities in Finland. He also pointed out that it would be possible to settle the conflict and establish peace in Ukraine if NATO capitulates.
