Europe needs its own action plan regarding Ukraine and European Union (EU) security, otherwise these issues will be solved by other global players. This was stated by Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk on February 15.

"Europe urgently needs its own action plan regarding Ukraine and our security, otherwise our future will be decided by other global players. Not necessarily according to our own interests," Tusk wrote in the social network X (former Twitter).

According to him, this plan should be prepared now.

On 14 February, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said that the EU countries and Ukraine should participate in negotiations on the settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. He pointed out that all the countries of the association were in favor of an early end to this crisis, but the issue at stake here was the fundamental issues of peace in Europe.

Konstantin Blokhin, a leading researcher at the Center for Security Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences and an American political scientist, said that in case of a final failure of the Ukrainian Armed Forces on the battlefield, a change in the rhetoric of US President Donald Trump and an economic downturn, the EU may stop supporting Ukraine. In addition, the association may reconsider its attitude towards Kiev if Moscow and China demonstrate further economic growth and the EU "stalls".
