Vilfand predicted frost in the European part of Russia next week

Next week in the European part of Russia the temperature will drop significantly below the norm. This was announced by the scientific head of the Russian Hydrometeorological Center Roman Vilfand on February 15.

"The real winter has come. In many regions of European Russia, the temperature will be noticeably below the norm," he said in a conversation with RIA Novosti.

Vilfand specified that by Tuesday in Moscow will cool down to -16 degrees Celsius, and in St. Petersburg will be colder by several more degrees. According to him, this is due to the movement of air masses from the north.

"Strange as it may seem, even in the south of the Central Federal District - in the Tambov, Belgorod, Voronezh, Lipetsk regions - the temperature is lower than in Moscow by 1-2 degrees," the forecaster added.

Vilfand also predicted a cold snap in the center of the European part of the country on Saturday, February 15. According to him, from -13 to -6 degrees is expected on that day. The forecaster emphasized that the temperature in the center of Russia will be below normal for the first time in 2025.
