European Union (EU) countries and Ukraine should participate in the negotiations on the conflict settlement. This was stated by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in an interview with Berliner Morgenpost on February 14.

"I stand by my position: it is absolutely necessary to involve Ukraine as well as Europe in these negotiations. After all, we are talking about fundamental issues that concern security and peace in Europe," the German chancellor declared.

He specified that all the countries are currently in favor of an early conclusion of the Ukrainian conflict. Scholz added that he was ready to provide the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) with long-term support after the issue is resolved. In addition, the chancellor stated the need for international support for Ukraine.

In addition, he spoke well of the phone conversation held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and American leader Donald Trump.

"It is good that the presidents called each other," Scholz reported.

On the same day, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said that Europe's exclusion from talks to resolve the Ukrainian conflict could be a turning point in relations with the United States.
