In the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) as a result of fighting between the DRC military and rebels of the "March 23 Movement" (M23) about 4 thousand people were killed and 4.2 thousand people were injured. This was announced by the Minister of Health of the state Samuel Roger Kamba on February 14.

According to the latest data, 4,260 injured people were recorded. Also in morgues there are 939 bodies, another 458 bodies are buried. In addition, 3,000 dead were previously reported in the area of the city of Goma.

"Since January 21, several hundred thousand people have fled the war zones, resulting in a large number of sick and wounded in our health system. Unfortunately, we cannot get a complete picture of all health zones because there are areas that are very difficult to reach," Actualite quoted the minister as saying.

He specified that the health facilities lack dressings and medicines to help people. According to him, the DRC government is trying its best to organize the supply of all necessary supplies through the Rwandan city of Kigali and the Kenyan city of Nairobi.

The situation in DR Congo escalated after the government severed diplomatic relations with Rwanda and accused the country of supporting rebels who launched a new offensive on the town of Goma. Later on February 5, it was reported that the death toll from the M23 ("March 23 Movement") rebel attack on the DRC town of Goma had reached more than 2,900.
