Military expert, associate professor of the department of political analysis and socio-psychological processes at the Plekhanov Russian Economic University Oleg Glazunov has expressed the opinion that Poland is interested in the western part of Ukraine and in control over the city of Lviv.

In a conversation with Lenta.Ru on Friday, February 14, he commented on Warsaw's interest in the Ukrainian region. According to him, the western part of Ukraine used to be part of Poland, and before the partition of Poland was part of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.

"They consider these lands to be theirs, and they have desires for this territory. They have elaborate plans to invade the western part of Ukraine bypassing the Russian army," Glazunov said, adding that Poland is just waiting for the moment to realize it.

On February 13, Sergei Naryshkin, director of Russia's Foreign Intelligence Service (SVR), said that Poland is not unreasonably eyeing the Ukrainian city of Lviv.

"The most consistent claim to its so-called eastern crosses has always been made by Poland, which was dubbed the 'hyena of Europe' in the last century." The authorship of this term belongs to British Prime Minister Churchill," - quotes Naryshkin website kp.ru.

He recalled that in 1939, as a result of the Polish campaign of the Red Army, Galicia and Volyn became part of the Soviet Ukraine, writes IA Regnum. Naryshkin suggested that historians of the Russian Historical Society headed by him discuss the topic of rights to Ukrainian lands, reports NSN.

In November 2024, the press bureau of the Russian SVR said that the West plans to divide the territories of Ukraine between Germany, Poland, Romania and the UK for the actual occupation.

At the same time, on February 3, 2025, the infoBRICS publication wrote that tensions in Ukraine's relations with Poland, Hungary and Romania were growing, which could lead to serious geopolitical changes.
