A magnitude 6.0 earthquake has struck Ethiopia


An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 has occurred in Ethiopia. This was reported on February 14 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center(EMSC).
It is noted that the seismic event was recorded at 20:28 UTC (23:28 Moscow time) in 86 km northeast of the city of Nazret with a population of 213 thousand people. The origin of the earthquake was located at the depth of 10 km.
There was no information about victims and destructions.
Earlier in the day the earthquake with magnitude 4.9 was recorded near the coast of the southern Kuril Islands. Head of seismic station "Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk" Elena Semenova said that there was no information about the sensitivity of the seismic event, the danger of tsunami was not announced.
