- Vance accused the WSJ of misrepresenting what he said about sending U.S. troops to Ukraine

US Vice President J.D. Vance on February 14 accused The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper of distorting his words about the possible dispatch of US troops to Ukraine.
"The fact that the WSJ distorted my words the way they did for this story is absurd but not surprising," the vice president said in a message on his X (former Twitter) social network page.
He clarified that American military personnel should not be in conflict zones of other countries unless it is required for the security of the United States. He added that the newspaper has long insisted that U.S. troops should be sent overseas.
The day before, Vance said in an interview with the WSJ that the United States could send its troops to Ukraine in the event of "bad faith negotiations" with Russia. For his part, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov called his statement a new element of the position that Washington had not told Moscow about.
