In Peru, two people were killed and 41 injured when a bus fell off a bridge. This was reported on February 14 by the local editorial board of the Voice of America radio company.

"The bus was carrying more than 50 passengers when the bridge collapsed due to structural failure," the publication quoted disaster management official Cecilia Martino as saying.

David Aponte, head of the Directorate General of Disaster Risks and National Health Defense, said the injured were transferred to Chancay and Huaral hospitals. Most of them sustained injuries due to the vehicle crash.

Police indicated that the driver and passenger of the double-decker bus died. A vehicle also fell into the river.

According to the passengers, the bridge broke into three parts and the bus remained in the lowest one, causing the waters of the Changkai River to start flooding it.

"We will investigate and find out if the company responsible for collecting tolls and maintaining the road was performing its functions," Transportation and Communications Minister Raul Perez said.

Earlier, February 5, it was reported about the death of two people and 35 injured in Thailand as a result of an accident with a tourist bus. Then the driver failed to cope with the control, went into the oncoming lane, and then collided with a tree on the roadside.
