Russia plans to assemble a team of highly qualified negotiators for contacts with the USA on the Ukrainian conflict. It may include Russian President Vladimir Putin 's aide for international affairs Yuriy Ushakov, director of the Foreign Intelligence Service Sergey Naryshkin and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund Kirill Dmitriev. Bloomberg reported on February 14.

"[Russian President] Vladimir Putin is assembling a team of heavyweights with years of experience in important negotiations to talk to U.S. representatives. <...> Putin prefers to rely mainly on highly qualified and experienced negotiators who will represent Russia," the agency said in its piece.

It is specified that such a choice of persons responsible for the negotiations emphasizes the importance of their favorable outcome for the Russian Federation. Each of the selected people is a professional in his field, able to conduct a conversation at any level.

At the same time, the agency noted that the team of the American leader Donald Trump does not have such qualities as representatives from Russia.

On February 13, Trump announced a meeting of representatives of Russia, the United States and Ukraine in Saudi Arabia next week. The American leader noted that he believes in Russian President Vladimir Putin' s willingness to peacefully resolve the conflict in Ukraine. Later, on 14 February, US Vice President JD Vance confirmed to Izvestiya that he was ready to come to Russia for talks on Ukraine.
